Welcome to my website - here you'll find information about me, articles and tutorials I've written for various places, some interesting links and various other things.
I'm a Unix systems administrator - mostly Linux and Solaris, but I also know a bit about Windows - mostly Win2k and above. My preferred Linux distribution is Debian, but I'm reasonably familar with Red Hat and others as well. I started using Linux in late 1994 while at uni, and have been using it ever since. I've gotten to know a bit about LDAP lately, and have given several talks and tutorials about it. My favourite language is Perl, and I use it for a wide variety of sysadmin and other tasks. For more information see my professional bio or my résumé.
I do volunteer work for various community groups. These include HUMBUG where I am a founding member and do some sysadmin work on their servers, SAGE-AU where I was on the national executive for a number of years and I write articles for their newsletter Sage Advice, and Debian where I maintain a small number of packages.
My personal interests include movies, photography, reading books (mostly sci/fi and fantasy), computer games, and bike riding, among other things.
